Choosing a solar installer for your home or business can be tough. We’ve put together this guide to help you through the process.
-
What’s included in the price?
There’s truth in the saying ‘you get what you pay for’. A lower price may mean materials with shorter lives and warranties, unsustainable or unsafe installation practices, or less experienced or even uninsured installers. What’s more, some solar companies pay contract installers a fixed rate for a straight-forward or complicated job. Fixed-rate installers may walk away from jobs where the company is not paying them enough to cover their costs and labour. Ask what the price includes so you can make the right choices for your home or business.
-
Do you have quality certification?
Quality is not just about premium products. It’s making sure everyone in the company follows consistent processes to deliver excellent results to customers every time. One way of making sure your solar installer delivers high quality work is asking whether they have achieved certification in international standard ISO 9001. Government clients require their solar installers to be certified, and many businesses and homeowners see certification as an important point of difference. During our certification process, we developed a workplace manual to give our installers a tool to ‘do it once, do it right’.
-
Is your company sustainable?
What’s the point of installing green power if your panels end up in a landfill at the end of their life? One thing to check is whether your installer is certified against international standard ISO 140001. Roland Lawrence Electrical has been certified to this standard. We are committed to sustainability: from recycling waste and spent solar panels, to sending old panels that are still working to bushfire affected communities.
-
Has your workplace safety been externally audited?
Like any construction project, safety should be the first priority in solar installations. Look for an installer who is certified against international standard ISO 45001. During our accreditation against this standard, our safety systems were externally audited. This gives our customers peace of mind that their families, staff and buildings will be protected. And we know our installers have the best protections against being injured at work.
-
Will you protect my most important asset?
Saving a few thousand dollars on installation is not worth the risk to a home or business worth hundreds of thousands or millions. The installer you choose should have systems in place to enhance the quality, safety and sustainability of this asset – at a price that reflects the value of the product and work.
Roland Lawrence Electrical is a trusted, fully licenced, and insured solar installer. We are certified against international standards in quality, environmental and workplace safety management systems, and have been serving customers in Sydney for over a decade.
